The earliest use of the Kashmiri language is found in Mahānaya-Prakāsha. It continued and nurtured most in the form of Kashmiri Shaivism & Sufism.
The famous poets from Kashmir in this period were women, like:
Lal ded (14th century) wrote mystical lakhs/verses about Shiva.
Hubba Khātun (16th century), and Arani-mal (18th century) are famous for their hauntingly beautiful love lyrics.
Nund Rishi & Rupa Bhawani's poetry and spiritual philosophies have greatly influenced Kashmir.
Zinda Kaul continued the traditions of Sivaite lyricism.
